"Oh my gosh!" "This is so incredible!" "These will make so many people happy!"
These are just a few of theexpressions of gratitude that we heard while delivering the 3,000+ items made on Mitzvah Day for our neighbor-in-need. Thanks to the many community donors and congregants who gave generously of their time, supplies and money, not only were our expenses covered, but we were able to make in-kind and financial donations to the 9 charitable agencies we supported on Mitzvah Day. We are pleased to report that we raised enough money to cover the $54 testing fee for every one of the 19 cheek swabs that we sent to the Gift of Life Bone Marrow Registry.
Thank you again to the multitude of people who came together to make this event a success, especially Gail Bachman , who is the true heart and force behind the scenes, Heather Fox , our Publicity Team Captain, Pam Snyder , our Creativty Team Captain, and Karen Newnam , our Team Captain for the Walkathon. What a sight it was to behold 350 white T-Shirts walking as one community through the streets of Ghent, representing Ohef Sholom Temple with pride. A sincere thank you to the folloing Team Captains, who organized their Mitzvah Stations, solicited donations and recruited dozens of wonderful volunteers: Anne Kramer, Celia Friedman, Sandi Advocat, Robin Mancoll, Isobel Bartel, Sharon Ross, Kristin Glans, Cheryl Lacey, and Maddie Bartel. Far surpassing our original goals for the day, OST "walked a mile in someone else's shoes" and made a difference in the lives of many.
