Men's Club

The Ohef Sholom Temple Men’s Club
is a fraternal organization whose main goal is to provide service and support to the Temple and it’s members. Our new membership year, for 2011-2012 has begun.

Please support Men’s Club programming by renewing your membership, or becoming a first-time member. Dues are just $30.00 annually, and your support makes this all possible. Please join us as a member of Ohef Sholom Temple Men's Club for 2011-2012.

Men’s Club events throughout the year include a special Men’s Club Shabbat service, summertime Norfolk Tides Baseball Game and Picnic, the springtime Sidney Aaron Snyder Memorial Golf Tournament, Bowling Night,Tennis Tournament, and annual Hanukkah Party and Religious School Picnic. We also sponsor the Religious School Carpool Café on Sunday mornings, the monthly Sunday Morning Speaker Series Brunch and our annual Henry B. Kaufmann Award Presentation for Service to the Community and Ohef Sholom Temple. Also five to seven Shabbat Dinners at Temple are coordinated by the Men’s Club. Additionally, the Men’s Club provides ushers for High Holy Day services and contributes to a large number of Temple projects and educational scholarship efforts.

Regular donations of meals to the Full Circle Aids Hospice, and volunteering at the homeless shelter reflect just part of the activities of this very busy group of Ohef Sholom Temple men. The Men's Club brings together people who might not otherwise see each other more than a few times a year for camaraderie, good works and plenty of fun. Our programs educate and entertain members of our congregation and promote Jewish service to both Temple and our entire community.

Men’s Club Monthly Meetings

Lively debate, fellowship, conviviality and great food are the order of the day at our meetings which take place the first Wednesday of each month at Temple, a local restaurant or a member’s home. Dinner starts at 6:00 p.m. and the meeting follows until 7:00 p.m.

Webinars and Networking Groups
ATTEND FREE WEBINARS and JOIN A NETWORKING GROUP!

The URJ is using Technology to create educational opportunities from professionals and peers by offering webinars on various topics as well as an opportunity to join a networking group. Webinars are online training sessions that you can participate in while they are happening or watch a recorded version of it when your schedule will allow. A networking group is an email discussion list for you and your peers in other congregation's that is facilitated by URJ staff; in addition the networking groups will have meetings and online and in person.
